EPA Chief Scientist to Deliver Valedictory Address
Dr Jacqueline Rowarth CNZM has accepted our invitation to deliver the Sir Paul Callaghan Valedictory Address at this year's Governor-General's Awards Dinner.
Dr Rowarth has been the Chief Scientist at the Environmental Protection Authority since October last year following a stellar career as a scientist and science communicator.
She was previously Professor of Agribusiness at Waikato University, and has had a long and distinguished career within a variety of leadership, scientific and academic roles.
She has been recognised with honours and awards for her contribution to agricultural science, and in 2008 was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. She is a Companion of the Royal Society of New Zealand, a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Agricultural Science, and a Patron of the McGuinness Institute.
Dr Rowarth has a strong public profile as a science communicator, is the author or editor of nine books, and writes regular columns for media.
